Here at ITC Luxury Travel we pride ourselves on having our finger on the pulse of luxury travel, and so we wanted to make you aware of some changes that are taking place for passengers travelling to the Maldives with British Airways.

The airline has announced that following a review of its services from London Gatwick, they have taken the decision to “suspend our summer flying to Malé, Maldives maintaining a winter-only service”.

Despite this temporary change to the British Airways schedule, we wanted to let you know that there are still three other airline options should you wish to travel to one of the Maldives’ luxurious resorts in the summer of 2015.

Here at ITC Luxury Travel we can arrange for flights to this idyllic chain of islands on Emirates, Qatar and Etihad, with connections in the Arabian Gulf offering the opportune travel option for a ‘dual destination’ escape. For example, why not combine a trip to the uber-exclusive One&Only Reethi Rah in the Maldives with a stop en route to the One&Only Royal Mirage in Dubai?

British Airways’ announcement means that both services which currently operate three times a week to Malé, will end on March 28, 2015, with the final outbound flight to both destinations flying on March 27, 2015 and returning March 28, 2015. The Malé, Maldives flights will re-commence for winter 2015 with the first service commencing October 25, 2015.

However, if you love flying with the iconic British airline, there’s come fantastic news for European flights; as they’re introducing Bodrum, Cagliari and Heraklion to their schedule from London Gatwick from 26 April.

“This is the biggest launch of new routes at Gatwick we’ve had for several years and is brilliant news for families and holiday-makers wanting to get away from it all for that all-important break to relax in the sun,” said Colm Lacy, British Airways’ Head of Commercial Gatwick.
