The luxury of Saint Lucia

When I was invited on a trip to Saint Lucia with the tourist board I was beyond excited as it has always been on my list of places I would love to visit.

First impressions? The pictures just do not do it justice as the views were truly breathtaking. The journey from the airport was longer than your average transfer but the lush scenery kept me entertained and the hotels are worth the wait!

Our first stop was Castries which is where Rodney Bay is located along with the majority of the boutique style hotels including Cap Maison, East Winds Inn and Rendezvous. Rodney Bay is great for restaurants, bars and shops along with the local Segway experience.

St Lucia is not only a beautiful island, but full of activities guaranteed to suit everyone. Segway tours are a great way to see the island and the guides will teach you how to use the Segway during a 20 minute orientation session before heading off up Mount Pimard along the two mile track, stopping off to take in the incredible views with lots of photo opportunities including Pigeon Island, Rodney Bay Marina and Reduit Island.

We also tried zip lining high in the tree tops! The staff were brilliant and made us feel very safe and there are 12 lines to enjoy in total, including the longest and the highest in the Caribbean.

We travelled down to the south of the island via a boat transfer which was amazing, seeing the incredible architecture of Anse Chastanet and Jade Mountain built into the mountain and arriving into Soufriere. Boucan by Hotel Chocolat is the ultimate place for an indulgent lunch date, with breathtaking views and a gorgeous menu to choose from; you can just relax here for the afternoon taking in the surroundings. The Sulphur Springs Park is the Caribbean’s only drive-in volcano. We took a guided tour through the crater before heading down to the hot springs where you can bathe in the sulphur pools famous for their natural soothing effects.

Sugar Beach, A Viceroy Resort is a fantastic contemporary property in one of the most stunning locations I have seen set between the two Pitons. There is plenty for everyone to do here so whether you’re looking for a honeymoon or family holiday, there is something for everyone. I loved the Cane Bar with its cool décor, DJ and rum tasting evenings.

The whole experience was incredible and I can’t wait to visit St Lucia again. It really is a great island and offers something for everyone.
