Reviewed: a luxury summer holiday in Ibiza
ITC Luxury Travel’s Chairman’s Club Account Manager, Kailey, recently travelled to Ibiza. Here she tells all on her ‘chilled’ time at the Hacienda Hotel Na Xamena, Ibiza… The Hacienda Hotel is situated on the north of the island of Ibiza and approximately 30-40 minutes drive from the airport, reached by a very steep and winding private road. Built over 40 years ago it is the oldest 5-star hotel on the island.
There are fabulous views to be enjoyed from every angle of the hotel, including the pool and the sunbathing areas, but the most amazing viewpoint for me was from the Eden restaurant and The Chill Out bar which is located opposite…here you can enjoy an ice-cold drink watching the sun go down whilst listening to laid-back music. Service overall throughout the resort was warm, friendly and very relaxed.
I’d say that this hotel is great for a spa retreat holiday as apart from relaxing and soaking up the sun there isn’t an awful lot to do. Located away from the party scene of Playa D’en Bossa and San Antonio and situated on a cliff edge overlooking the sea, it makes for the perfect vantage point to simply get away from it all and look out towards an amazing Ibiza sunset. But, if you prefer a holiday with a bit more to do, then I would recommend hiring a car as there are so many amazing beaches and beach clubs to visit nearby.
The nearest beach is located approximately 5 minutes away in the resort of San Miguel where you will find a beautiful natural sandy beach where watersports can be enjoyed. Within the port of San Miguel there are several bars and restaurants and a variety of shops. Excursions can be taken such as glass bottom boat trips and boat tours to different islands too.
Accommodation at the hotel consists of rooms and suites and within the past couple of years the hotel has undergone refurbishments with all rooms now featuring a Jacuzzi in the living area, with separate private shower just off the hallway and separate toilet. Wifi is available on a complimentary basis.
Other features of the hotel include the ‘Cascadas Suspendidas’, which is a Thalassa circuit perched on the edge of a cliff with the most amazing views. There is also a quaint spa with treatments available, a gym with techno equipment and tennis courts.
In my opinion the Hacienda Hotel is great for a pure, chill out, relaxation holiday and is more suited towards, singles and couples or families with very young or older children as there is no children’s club.
