ITC Luxury Travel New Year’s Resolutions

Here at ITC HQ we’ve been keen to get off to a good start this year and keep to our 2014 resolutions.

With much to celebrate this year (including our 40th birthday) they’ll be plenty of opportunities to party, so all the more reason to be fighting fit and healthy the rest of the time! Plus, with every new year there’s the opportunity to assess what’s important to us, and maybe look at opportunities for giving back a bit more.

Having spoken to the team, here are just a few of our resolutions for the coming year…

Eat well

Don’t know about you but the festive period was awash with sweet treats and savoury delights in our office! It meant most of us came back in January a few pounds heavier and with the impetus to eat better. With almost everyone on a healthy eating plan, we’ve had homemade soup made for us by the two lovely Paula’s at lunchtime, a box of fresh fruit delivered by our friends at One&Only and a chocolate amnesty on the ground floor!

The tea and coffee pots have also had a lot less use, with many of the team turning to cold water, and a huge number are also taking part in an alcohol free month ‘Dryuary’ (to varying degrees!).

And so far so good…most of us are feeling better, more energetic and are slowly losing those Christmas pounds, helped by our ITC Christmas gift – lunchboxes!

Every year we say we’ll do more exercise and every year our enthusiasm has petered out by February.

But 2014 is the year of ITC feeling ‘fabulous at 40’ so we’re all doing our best to keep each other going on our fitness drive. The take up for the ITC gym in Chester has been good, with many using it before and after work as well as in their lunchtimes. We’ve also had a number of staff set themselves targets; such as marathons or swimathons, and of course there are many who have gotten on the back of our new Health & Wellbeing drive and taken up yoga or Pilates.

At ITC we take our charity work very seriously. Every member of staff is asked to be involved in whatever way they can, from growing moustaches for Macmillan to running around the streets of Manchester in fancy dress for Claire House.

Our chosen charities are close to our hearts, and this year we will be making sure we raise as much as we physically for them. To get the ball rolling we will be having a Race Night in January for the staff…we’ll keep you updated on how much is raised!

Go green

The environment is super important to us ITC and we do our best to have as green an office as possible. This year we’re all going to try and make extra effort by only printing when we need to and recycling as much as possible.

Many team members are also doing their bit for pollution by walking or cycling to work, or car-sharing for those that live further afield.

Luxury Travel

As a leading travel provider, our next adventure is never far from ITC staff thoughts. Although our holiday needs vary – some need family resorts, others somewhere with a vibrant nightlife or a sleepy spot for some ‘me time’ – we all like to see new places, which is why we’ll be exploring the new destinations in the ITC Luxury Travel portfolio this year. From One&Only’s new acquisition Hayman Island to the enticing W in Bali, we’ll be heading into the world to discover new luxury hotels and resorts so we can honestly, sincerely report back to you, our valued customers, when we’re home.

It’s tough having the best job in the world, but someone’s got to do it!
