Now Baby Goes Too - Abama Tenerife

Having worked in luxury travel for almost a decade, I've certainly had my fair share of holidays - mostly in the name of research you understand(!), so normally to somewhere suitably exotic with first class service and that all important relaxing vibe.

However, having started the most important role of my life last October, that of being mum, things have changed dramatically - what I'm looking for now is certainly different to what I've hankered after previously. I wanted a relatively short flight, some warming winter sun and those all important family-friendly facilities. So where did I go? ABAMA, Golf and Spa Resort, Tenerife because it's great for kids and there is plenty to do that will keep adults busy from dawn till dusk!

OK, so it wasn't quite like my last holiday, which had been to an island retreat in the Maldives but it was wonderful and very relaxing (probably as blissful as you'll ever get when you've got a baby) as I stayed in a Villa Suite (one on the ground floor) which meant I could sunbathe while my baby slept.  There was also a secluded golden sandy beach, you could play a round of golf on the exhilarating cliff top course, head to the tennis academy or sample the ABAMA Spa. I have to say it was the Spa that was my personal highlight; a vast choice of treatments, including a bracing snow cabin, gave me the relaxation, peace and solitude I've missed over the last five months.

Of course there's a Kids' Club too. Baby was a little bit too young to appreciate that but I'm sure he will enjoy it in a few years' time. For now, my husband and I certainly enjoyed the resort's culinary highlights, with El Mirador its family friendly restaurant being one of the best I've ever eaten in and its views across the Atlantic Ocean towards La Gomera Island were truly spectacular.

If this is the sort of holiday I can now look forward too all I can say is - 'When can we go again!'
