Charming Barbados

This is an island that never disappoints.... Over the past 13 years I have been lucky enough to visit on several occasions and of course everything changes in life, and not always for the better, but for me the island of Barbados retains its charm and quirky personality.

However, on what is possibly my sixth visit, from the moment we arrived it was clear that this trip was going to be a little different to all of the rest!

I am not known for my singing but after a morning at Island Recording Studios I can feel a Christmas Number One coming on!  This was by far one of the most entertaining ways to spend a morning and you even come away with your own CD!  And yes, we recorded "Whoa I'm going to Barbados" and drank rum punch at 10am (helps loosen the vocal cords apparently).... However, none of this would of been possible without Toby who is for sure the most talented man in music as the CD actually sounded OK (ish) on completion.

As we were now living the life of a musician, a luxury catamaran cruise was on the cards!  Collected by dinghy at our hotel, 'The House', we were greeted by a lovely couple called Ryan and Rebecca (R&R Cruising) on what was the most beautiful Catamaran named Second Chance.  We sailed down the west coast, swam with turtles, enjoyed canapés, champagne, rum punch and an amazing sunset - the ultimate in service on every level.

Our last night on island was dinner at Daphne's in the company of some true cricket legends, Sir Gary Sobers, Sir Wes Hall and Charlie Griffith.  What an amazing evening talking to these inspirational gentlemen who are the best of friends; I could happily have listened to them for several more hours.

My home for my brief stay was at the recently renovated luxury resort, 'The House', which is just that, a home from home......  Friendly and accommodating but not obtrusive, this property fits the bill perfectly (if you have no children), it's understated, relaxed and chilled with comfortable sofas and the lightest of breezes whispering through while you sit back and forget your cares... heaven.
