Selling and promoting mainly Long Haul in my travel career, I had no idea these gems existed and since joining ITC, I have been blown away by the product on offer within our very own continent and especially such a short flight from regional airports.

Amirandes is truly a Cretan Palace and is the ultimate in Luxury. The elements of water, fire and earth are the hallmarks of this resort, evident from the moment you walk in reception. The image of infinity water when looking from reception gives the feeling of the sea continuing through the resort and the main buildings are at water level, giving the image of it floating.

When visiting resorts and hotels, I always try to see them through the eyes of different people:

Families - There were children of all ages around and the kids club looked great. Plenty of on site activities, Olympic Pool, plus a designated kids pool and water sports, so enough to keep them busy. Caragh from Mason Rose has stayed here twice before on a personal holiday and she has a child of 8 years. Caragh mentioned how well they looked after her son, made him feel welcome and more importantly, this ensured Cara could too relax!

Couples - Will love it here Lots of intimate area for privacy, 60 rooms boasting a private pool and as above, although there were kids about, they are not intrusive, so please do not be put off by its equally impressive facilities for families.

In terms of room types, 20 different options are available from the 212 on offer, catering for any taste. I loved the diversity of room types and each category was decorated differently. I was privileged to stay in a Deluxe Sports Suite, which had its very own private pool, secluded terrace with sunbathing area and its own gym!!! (Not that it got used whilst I was there!!)

3 bars and 6 exceptional restaurants that reflect the resort's cosmopolitan vibe from Mediterranean a la carte to Asian Cuisine, there really is a taste for every pallet. They own a Greco farm close by and grow all of their own fruits and vegetables. We ate at the main restaurant one evening and the food was to die for. I have never tasted such fresh vegetables and there was always plenty on offer.

I am a firm believer, that it is the people and service that set hotels apart from their competition. We were greeted with such a warm welcome (and I saw this with other guests, so it wasn't just because we worked in the industry!) and must have seen the General Manager, Vassilis, walking around half a dozen times. He clearly inspires his team and this is proven in how hard they work for him, ensuring they exceed client's expectations. They could not do enough for us.

May was a perfect time to go - not too hot and a light breeze to take the edge of the mid-day heat. It was cooler in the evening, but much warmer than back home!

I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone and would definitely return with my family without hesitation.
