Horse Couture - Racing at Baden-Baden

I love getting dressed up for a big event, which is why one of my favourite pursuits is to join our Horse Racing Abroad clients for a day or two at the races. Last weekend saw me in my element, as I headed to the stunning spa town of Baden-Baden in Germany, where I got to indulge myself with not only horse racing but a fantastic destination.

The racecourse itself is situated in a fabulous spot between the Rhine and the Black Forest in the village of Iffezheim. There are two main racing festivals attracting runners from all over Europe, with racing taking place on Saturday and Sunday afternoon. I was only in attendance on Sunday but for me and the Horse Racing Abroad clients who were on our two day package, indulgence of the highest order was enjoyed in the luxury of Champions Club Restaurant, situated on the third floor overlooking the course, where we enjoyed a hot buffet luncheon with four courses and unlimited local wines and the all important champagne!

With brilliant weather, superb facilities and a few winners for Mr Atkinson, all wrapped up in a trip to this lovely town, which is only twenty miles from the French border on the German side of the Rhine, the trip really couldn't be beaten. For those of you who can't resist a bet away from the racecourse too, the casino of Baden-Baden is the oldest in Germany and one of the largest and most magnificent in the world, so no time for withdrawal symptoms to set in!

Baden-Baden was the perfect warm up for my next "hot to trot" trip - the Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe in Paris! There is something very special about Longchamp on "Arc" day and attending last year at Horse Racing Abroad's private Pavilion Grandstand at Longchamp, was undoubtedly one of the great highlights of my year. This year, it's on the weekend of 1st - 2nd October and I'll be attending once more in our Pavilion Grandstand, which really is the envy of all., allowing us to do what nobody else can; offer exclusive reserved seating, the best racecourse catering, special betting facilities and, with English race commentaries even I, usually the unluckiest of punters, backed some winners! We will be at the heart of the action again and I hope to meet you there.

And remember, if you're a sports lover away from horse racing, ITC Sports can take you to countless other high-octane events, so check out our website for more information.
