Lara Dunston wrote an article in this weekend's Saturday Telegraph highlighting her recommendations for where to stay and what to do in Dubai; she mentioned both One&Only Royal Mirage and Mina A'Salam, two amazing properties I've visited recently and I agree wholeheartedly that these are brilliant places to stay. She also said that the best time to go is between November and March; again advice I agree with, although I'd add that this country is a good choice year round, although it can get a little too hot over the summer months. To add to her comments I'd like to say that Dubai is a very central destination which makes it a perfect twin centre holiday option; it makes a great stopover city from other countries in the Middle East and the Indian Ocean.

If you're visiting with children then Aquaventure at Atlantis or the Wild Wadi Waterpark at Jumeirah Beach are a must, providing hours of entertainment on their waterslides. To see the different aspects of this amazing country I'd say you should contemplate taking a jeep safari tour of the desert, it's truly awe-inspiring. Whatever you decide to do you can probably find it here; there is even an indoor ski slope!
