Jennifer's Arabian Adventure
Last week I flew out for a few days in Dubai, travelling with Emirates on their A380 from Manchester. They're due to offer a third daily non-stop flight to this route from the 1st of May, operated by an Airbus A330-200 aircraft, which is incredibly convenient for travellers based in the north.
What I particularly loved about the A380 was the excellent facilities that include Business Class passengers each enjoying their own personal mini bar - a really nice touch! Its' a great aircraft and it made the journey to Dubai a very pleasant one.
The dreaded credit crunch is said to have reached Dubai's manicured shores but I found it's still growing at a frenetic pace and I was blown away by some of its latest and greatest man-made creations, including the extraordinary Palm; it's now visible from space, but I have to say that close up it's a real marvel.
At its heart lies the giant resort that is Atlantis The Palm, here everyone is sure to find something. You are going to be spoilt for choice here whether you want to indulge in land based activities or choose to make a splash in the water park. This is a kid's heaven, with an exhilarating array of slides for the adrenaline junkies; I, however, chose the more sedate lazy river!
Whilst there I saw the sensational Lost Chamber Suites, which have to be the ultimate in rooms with a view, gazing into the Ambassador Lagoon to an ever changing vista of marine life from inquisitive rays to majestic sharks.
Heading round one of the Palm's peninsulas I arrived at the new boutique property One&Only The Palm, my top tip for Dubai. It's an exclusive and tranquil enclave of impeccable style that seduces you from the moment you arrive, with its lush gardens, fountains and pools all set to a backdrop of sparkling shores and the new Dubai Skyline on the horizon, its definitely where I'd be going for a bit of Dubai indulgence.
I particularly loved its 101 bar; secluded, trendy and with a great selection of cocktails - it's the new place to see and be seen in Dubai. There's also the option for guests to arrive by boat from the One&Only Royal Mirage - a great way to make an entrance!
One&Only Royal Mirage is still fabulous! Service is exceptional and it's an oasis of calm, despite its location in the centre of Dubai, and I have to say that its spa really is sensational. This continues to be a fabulous property for guests of all ages and gives you that Arab experience, shish bar and all. Dubai is a real man- made marvel, offering something for everyone, and with so many direct regional flights there has never been a better time to visit.
