Classic Comment – Turkish Delight
I was pleased to see not one but two articles in the weekend papers highlighting the virtues of Turkey; the Sunday Telegraph running the piece "Turkey Top Tips, recommendations and travel advice for Telegraph readers by Telegraph readers" and the Sunday Times with an article, by Nick Redman on "Turkey Joins The Party". Finally, I thought, the media are picking-up on Turkey being a fabulous destination!
I've really pleased to the country getting the praise it deserves; it's a destination that oozes culture and charm and interesting experiences, such as wines tasting and some seriously superb hotels!
The rapidly expanding city of Antalya, is now often cited as a hip destination; it's referred to as the 'Turkish Riviera' and is fast becoming one of the hottest spots to visit in the Mediterranean. Did you know, that one of its noteworthy hotels, the Mardan Palace, cost a whopping US $1.4bn - and that on opening in 2009 it enjoyed a spectacular launch party with performances from Mariah Carey and Tom Jones and a guest list that read like a 'who's, who' including Sharon Stone, Richard Gere, Paris Hilton and Seal?
Mardan Palace, Antalya Stay 7 nights from £1,069 per person staying in a Premium Room Anatolian Wing/European Wing on a bed & breakfast basis. If this country isn't on your radar, it really should be. It's got so much going for it!
