A Perfect Barbados Holiday
Luxury Barbados holidays are always a favourite amongst Caribbean islands and, if you're a traveller who looks for an island retreat exuding laid back charm and character, you're sure to fall in love with Cobblers Cove, just as I did on my recent visit.
This intimate resort has a rustic feel, oozing the charm and elegance of an English country house mixed with the tropical splendour, white sand beaches and vibrant personality of Barbados. The atmosphere is cosy enough for you to feel as though you're at a private house party hosted by the welcoming General Manager, Randy Wilkie; and this is one house party that you won't want to leave!
Why you'll love it: The food here is exceptional; the Terrace Restaurant, located at the edge of the beach, is the perfect setting for you to enjoy the delectable cuisine. In fact the food is so good that Cobblers Cove is one of only five hotels and restaurants in the Caribbean to be granted membership of the prestigious Relais & Chateaux organisation.
Insider tip: The historic town of Speightstown is a relaxing stroll away from Cobblers Cove, making it easy for you to enjoy a taste of island life. Whilst there, head to the Fisherman's Pub and sample the rum or simply enjoy a cold Banks beer before you return in time for yet another delectable dinner.
We then moved down the coast to the Sandpiper, a very sleek and sophisticated offering on the West Coast run brilliantly by Karen and Wayne Capaldi and their excellent team, whose meticulous attention to detail make this property really special.
It's in a superb location and the beach here is great. There's loads to do but guests have to use sister hotel Coral Reef Club's Spa if they want a bit of extra pampering. The hotel does offer a complimentary transfer and its' not far.
The accommodation here is really great. All suites have their own kitchenettes, making them well suited to families. If it's something extra special your after then the Treetop Suites are for you, boasting greater space, elegantly designed with really beautiful bathrooms and a wraparound terrace with private plunge pool. All in all, this is a very special hotel and one I think typifies the glamour of the West Coast.
