I love the Sunday Telegraph's article on the '50 Best Small Museums' in yesterday's Discover travel supplement and it made me think about a few of the amazing properties we feature.

For instance, did you know that the Orient-Express Hotel Villa San Michele, Florence, Italy has to be the ultimate for any connoisseur of art, history or the finer things in life? It's a renaissance building with a fa├žade attributed to Michelangelo and is as much a part of Italy's culture as the country's greatest cathedrals and galleries.

The article also reminded me that the legendary Taj Palaces we feature in our India portfolio will allow you not only to visit but uniquely to stay in some of India's finest palaces. Steeped in hundreds of years of history and bursting with artefacts and unique works of art, these boutique properties are fit for a King or Raj and are museums in their own right.

At the other end of the chronological scale, head to Miami and experience a modern marvel; The Delano houses a striking international collection of furniture and objects, including works from artists Antonio Gaudi, Man Ray, Charles and Ray Eames, Salvador Dali and Mark Newson, all assembled by Philippe Starck.

As this tiny selection shows, it's not only exceptional service and luxurious accommodation that goes to making our featured hotels and resorts the very finest in the world.
