For a memorable view of Asia, the Eastern & Oriental Express, sister train to the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express, travels through Singapore, Thailand and Malaysia. This luxury train provides a unique way to explore these intriguing countries, giving a different and sometimes closer insight into village and rural life, history, spiritualism, culture and nature. FABLES OF THE PENINSULA

Day 1
Arrive in Singapore for an overnight stay at the iconic Raffles hotel before you embark on your rail journey.

Day 2
Settle into your luxurious cabin as the train travels over the causeway, into Malaysia and out into the countryside.

Day 3
Arrive at the Mughal-style Kuala Lumpur Railway Station and explore on a city tour, heritage walking tour or a visit to the National Museum. Enjoy lunch on the journey to Tapah Station, transfer by coach to the luxurious Cameron Highlands Resort; stay overnight following a dinner spent taking in the fabulous views from Malaysia's most celebrated hill retreat.

Day 4
Choose from treatments in its Spa Village to visiting the Best of Highlands tea plantation in the morning. After lunch, travel to Ipoh to board the train, enjoy an aperitif in the Bar Car before a fabulous dinner as the train glides on through the night.

Day 5
Today you will transfer to the island of Penang for an excursion, followed by afternoon tea in your cabin and then a delicious evening meal with your fellow travellers. Your journey continues into Thailand.

Day 6
Spend the morning in a rural fishing village then take a local speedboat to the island of Koh Chaan, home to thousands of bird colonies. You'll enjoy a Thai seafood barbecue lunch and time to enjoy the beach. Back on board your evening will be spent at a farewell cocktail party hosted by the Train Manager.

Day 7
Disembark in Bangkok as the onboard team wave goodbye and wish you a pleasant onward journey.

The accommodation is sumptuous with interior walls of cherry wood, adorned with decorative marquetry and intricate inlays. During the day your cabin is a private lounge, transformed to a plush bedroom at night with upper and lower berths.  

Choose from four grades of beautifully appointed compartments: Pullman Single, Pullman, State and Presidential. Each cabin is fully air-conditioned with an en suite shower, washbasin and WC. Large picture windows have been created to provide an excellent view of the passing scenery. Facilities include 24-hour steward service, international electric sockets (220 volts) and 110 volt adapter for razors, a personal safe and hairdryer.

The train features two restaurant cars serving seasonally changing menus, a saloon car, bar car with resident pianist and an observation car. The observation car, located at the rear of the train, offers unobstructed views making it perfect for sightseeing by day and cocktails and entertainment after dark.
