One of the world's most dynamic cities, from the bright lights of Times Square to the leafy streets of Greenwich Village, each bite of the Big Apple will leave you hungry for more.

There is so much to see and do, from its world-famous landmarks such as the Empire State Building and Statue of Liberty to the essential experiences of taking in a show on Broadway or a romantic horse-drawn cab ride through Central Park. As far as shopping goes, the designer boutiques of Madison Avenue and Fifth Avenue are a 'must'. Easy to navigate and with so many attractions within a convenient radius, New York is a fantastic destination.

When to travel to New York

Just an eight hour flight from the UK, New York (GMT -5 hours) is more than manageable as a short city break if you don’t have the time to stay longer.

A visit in the spring is generally perfect (climate-wise) and although summers here can get quite hot and humid, air conditioning is standard in most places, with Central Park ideal for some relief from the skyscrapers. Autumn has a mild climate and the advantage of staying then is that you can experience the all-out American holidays of Halloween and Thanksgiving. A pre-Christmas break in winter is ideal for picking up gifts, as well as enjoying the magic of ice skating at the Rockefeller Centre, or stay longer over the seasonal period and bring in the New Year in Times Square.
