The Latin American country of Chile has a rich history that includes Spanish colonial rule and native American societies which results in a deep and diverse culture and architecture. The geography of the country is unique as its rugged coast line of nearly four thousand miles far exceeds its furthest width of only 200 miles making it a very long and slender country.

The capital of the country, Santiago is a wonderful example of a modern and successful capital city where visitors can experience the historic Lastarria quarter or the wealthy Vitacura district where there a varied and high quality restaurants.

On one coast Chile boats a long and beautiful pacific coast line which provides visitors with the opportunity to enjoy the relaxation of its long and luxurious beaches as well as the chance to sail or paddle the dramatic coastal waters. On the eastern coast Chile accesses the wonders of the south American mountain range of the Andes where visitors can climb mountains or enjoy lake trails. Other natural wonders available for travellers to experience include the Patagonian deserts or the fabled Easter Islands off the southern coast of the country.

Best time to travel to Chile

The length of Chile as it snakes down the western coast of South America means that the countries weather geographically is one of extremes. The weather in the north can be moderate all year round in contrast to the central areas of the country where the weather patterns are the opposite of the UK. Therefore the months of November to February represent the best time to visit Chile as the weather is warm and pleasant. However in the very south of the country in the Patagonia region the weather is quite varied even during the peak months of late September to early April.
