Bordered by Burma, China, Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand, Laos is a unique country that boasts a fascinating and enchanting cultural history. Its current population is considered to be over 6 million with it continually growing year in year out. The weather climate varies during the year but due to its tropical environment the weather is influenced by the monsoon pattern, so it has three weather seasons; rainy, cold and hot. 

A Laos luxury holiday, is like a nostalgia trip due to its laidback lifestyle epitomised by the atmosphere and culture in the capital, Vientiane, a beautiful riverfront city. The capital contains many temples, Buddhist monuments, museums and a range of shops for visitors to explore. Luang Prabang is also a location laced with history and culture for visitors to enjoy as it boats a variety of golden-roofed temples. As night approaches visitors will witness monks from a number of monasteries walking through the streets which adds to the flavour of the authentic Laos experience. Other cities worth visiting are Savannakhet and Pakse with as both have outstanding views and vistas for guests to enjoy.

Best time to visit Laos

The rainy season is during the months of May to November which is then followed by a cooler season from December to April, however the latter months of the year are hotter compared to others. Whether you wish to visit during the winter months or during the dry season, the MekongRiver is represents a wonderful destination that provides guests with a perfect environment in which to relax and experience authentic south Asian culture.

Laos events and festivals

Throughout January and February, the temple-centred Bun Pha Vet festival occurs during which families and visitors from different villages come together to celebrate the commemoration of the Jataka, the life story of Lord Buddha as Prince Vestsantara. Local boat racing festivals take place during the months of September and October before the end of Buddhist lent. The festivals provide breathtaking views as the number of outstanding boat designs take to the water. The Hmong New Year celebrations are also a wonderful experience not to be missed as the local culture and tradition is on display when the smaller communities come together to celebrate and welcome the new year.
