The Arabian Gulf is a year-round destination given its temperate climate, with plenty to do outdoors when the sun is shining, and indoors for when the golden rays get too much.

Resembling an ancient Arabian citadel, Dubai’s Madinat Jumeirah is three hotels brought together as one luxurious resort; creating a real sense of variety. There are some 50 restaurants to choose from, plus your family can dine at Jumeirah Beach and Jumeirah Zabeel Saray. Children – and the young at heart – will love the attractions of the Wild Wadi Waterpark which is free for hotel guests, while larger families will enjoy the privacy and space of a stay at the Malakiya villas.

Also in Dubai is the iconic One&Only Royal Mirage, a resort encompassing The Palace, Residence & Spa and Arabian Court. Children can enjoy two kids’ clubs, and in the summer months complimentary entrance to the Aquaventure waterpark. At the KidsOnly club, young guests will be immersed into Arabian tradition as they enjoy henna painting, belly dancing and sand sculpturing, while the older ones head to Ski Dubai, Dubai Autodrome or The Mall of the Emirates.

It might not be a destination that would immediately spring to mind for a family holiday, but those who have travelled en masse to Oman’s Six Senses Zighy Bay with ITC – including our CEO – say it’s superb for luxury family travel. All of the villas have their own pool, there’s a kids and teen club, plus Cinema Paradiso; movies on the beach under a blanket of stars with popcorn provided.

Also on Oman’s beautiful coastline is the Shangri-La’s Barr Al Jissah Resort and Spa; three hotels under one resort. The are some 21 food and drink outlets and a kids’ club (open until 10pm) here, and guests staying in Al Husn benefit from a complimentary minibar and laundry service; meaning no washing to return home to! At Al Waha the Family rooms have special amenities for younger guests.
